The Spanish three and four classes, taught by Senor Wilson, set off to Missouri Western Thursday morning on March 30th. Wilson brought them to the University’s State Modern Language Day to help them get a better understanding of Spanish.

“I learned a lot on the origin of the words and how the accents work. I’m glad we got the chance to go on the trip,” said Junior Joe Williams.

Spanish has been working hard on a new video. They uploaded it on Youtube for everyone to watch. See the link at the bottom of this story.

The class didn’t only learn while they were up there, they competed in competitions. They competed in a quiz bowl, reciting poems, spelling contest and finally a Spanish commercial.

“The field trip was a lot of fun. We got to do a lot of fun activities, I really enjoyed it. I would definitely go again if given the chance,” said Junior Josh Revnew.

St. Pius was well represented by Senor Wilson’s class’s. They came out with the majority of the trophies at the end of the day. They took first in quiz bowl, first in poem reciting and a controversial second place in the Spanish commercial.

“I think our commercial was better than the first place commercial because ours was better acted and only one minute long. While the first place video was long and overtime and didn’t even make sense, so we deserved first place,” said Junior Zach Cissell.

Along with going on a field trip, the Spanish class planned a video to get students involved.

Mr. Wilson felt that his classes worked hard inside and outside of the class, making Pius a contender on this trip.

“I’m very proud of what we accomplished and the experiences we had while there. We hope to return next year and do even better,” said Senor Wilson Spanish teacher.
