On Thursday, March 23rd the SPX Track team had their first meet at Belton where the team placed 15th overall. The team fought hard against the much larger schools and placed in three events: the boys’ 4×8 placed 7th, the boys’ 4×4 placed 8th and Sophomore Olivia Krueger placed 8th in her 100 meter hurdle.
“I felt like there was a lot of high expectations from the other runners being the anchor in our 4×4,” said Freshman Robbie Gretsy.
The boys placed 7th in their 4×4, the best placement at the meet giving SPX points to add to the board. Likewise, the boys’ 4×8 scored some much needed points for the Warriors.
“I felt like I had a big responsibility finishing the race and even helping to place in the race,” said Sophomore George Lofland, the anchor of the 4×8.
Lofland and his three other runners ran hard for 800 meters each finally finishing eighth among 16 other runners.
Krueger also finished strong for the blue and white.
“When I got on Varsity and made it to that meet, I felt really excited. Hopefully from now on, my times will drop and I will make it farther than last year,” said Krueger, who placed eighth in her girls’ 100 meter hurdles.
The next track meet will be this Friday at the Kearney Invitational.
