On September 24th, the Lady Warrior Volleyball team dominated the competition at the Grandview Tournament and went away with a first place victory. This win didn’t come without goals set and players willing to meet these goals.
“They had a goal set at the beginning of the day and met it. The girls played hard and did their jobs,” said head volleyball Coach Krista Daniels.
As of right now, these girls have had only 2 loses in the season and don’t plan to lose anymore. Over the rest of the season, they plan to work even harder to bring them back to State and dominate the competition.
“This victory sets the bar for State. We know we can get 1st here and now we know we can get 1st at State,” said Senior Meredith Wilson.
These girls do not get distracted easily, even with the pressure of Homecoming and the distraction of how little time they would have to get ready for the dance. This tournament was set on the day of the Homecoming dance and the team had to play the matches and then get to their hair appointments.
“The toughest part of the game was staying focused on the game and not thinking about Homecoming,” said Senior Anna McGurn.
But the distractions didn’t stop the Warriors as they won every match and went undefeated.
These girls are determined to go back to State and dominate the competition over the rest of the season. The girls played Clinton on Thursday, September 29th and beat them in two matches. Their next game will be on the road to Nevada on Oct 6th.
