The St. Pius X girl’s soccer team is back in action and ready to claim the State title. After losing a close game in the finals last season, the athletes are ready for more.

“The goals for the team this year are to make it to State and win,” Junior Midfielder Lexie Moore said.

Last year, the girl’s soccer team took 2nd in State, which was the highest finish for an SPX soccer team in school history. Coach Ashby said his goal this year is to be State Champions.

“The toughest competition in Conference will probably be Sedalia or O’Hara,” said Coach Ashby.

Freshman Tio Krizogono feels the team has good energy and a lot of nice girls and also loves the sport and the intensity of it.

Coach Ashby believes having the knowledge and experience of what it takes to get to State will help the girls make it again this year.

The 2016 Varsity team is returning a very strong core group of players, which will be instrumental to their success this season.

The next game will be in Warrensburg on March 29th at 4:30 PM.
